The Card  as I see it.. predictions and thoughts.

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam

This match for me is the big let down of the card. While Cena is a decent entertainer, he is no RVD in the ring. He also isn’t Extreme in any regard. RVD still has the same skill set he had in the late 90’s, he’s just a bit slower and more methodical than he used to be. That comes with age and injuries, and can be forgiven.

Cena on the other hand, while coming from his OVW roots, doesn’t have the skills to carry an RVD style match, much less an ECW style match. This Match would be totally disappointing to me, except for one thing. I suspect, that they will have Cena finally drop his belt (yah.. I know he dropped to Edge, but that was a 3 week joke.. and they screwed Edge.. again) to RVD, and re-christen it the ECW world Title.

The reason I figure they’ll do this is two fold. In the Todd Gordon Era of ECW (Eastern Championship Wrestling) when they had Shane “the Franchise” Douglas win the NWA title, toss it aside, and rechristen it the ECW “Extreme” Belt it was huge. Half work, half shoot. All gold. Fans, marks, and smarks across the board ate it up.

While McMahon is still sweet on Cena, the fans aren’t. He’s getting more boos than cheers. It’s time for Cena to walk away from the title.

RVD on the other hand.. has deserved to be the ECW world champion for his entire original tenure in ECW. (he was the 20+ month long ECW TV Champ though).  RVD has been shit on a lot in WWE. The piss poor ECW/WCW invasion of the WWE after Vince bought what was left of the two competing Feds left most people with a sour taste in our mouths.

RVD was supposed to get a good run a year ago.. but months before the first WWE run ECW PPV, RVD went on the Injured list, and couldn’t preformed as he’d have wished at the PPV, and vowed to come back with a vengeance.

Earlier this year, RVD won the Money in the Bank Match.  He later went on TV, and announced he’d cash in the contract for the Title Match at the ECW PPV.

I can only hope they put on a good match, and Cena drops the Belt to RVD so they can usher in the NEW ECW era.

Prediction: RVD (probably with help) Takes the Belt.

World Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Sabu

This is bound to be a wrestling clinic of sorts. Rey is a former ECW alumni, so I have high hopes for a good technical match with lots of High Spots. Rey holds the big WWE belt, and this title match is the biggest match of Sabu’s career.

People kind of forget the WWE title structure, and the origins. Cena holds the WWE Championship, which, was/is the original WCW world Heavyweight Championship. Rey hold the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the origin WWE Heavyweight Title.

I don’t have much hope of seeing Sabu beat Rey. Rey is pretty much the only thing on Smackdown anymore. Also, since he does hold the true original WWE championship, I’m sure Vince has no intention of allowing ECW to shit on it.

Prediction: Rey Retains in what should be an awesome match.

Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton

This match I have mixed feeling about. Kurt Angle, was a shock draft for ECW.  I remember the original appearance of Angle in ECW all those years ago. I also remember how Tazz disrespected him.  (real or not.. )

I also rememeber how that first appearance, was his last. Later that night, Angle witness the crucifixion angle, and basically said fuck that shit and closed the door on any potential ECW future he might have had at the time. Good for him. It might have delayed his pro wrestling debut, but look how well it worked out for him. He later joined the WWE, and within a year achieved what most wrestlers never do all in his first year in the WWE.

Finding out that Angle was Heymans first draft choice (aside from RVD of course) was shocking news, and great news. It’s pretty clear that over the years Angle has been Vince’s go to man for anything that needs to get done. Angle is a professional, and a true company man.

While signing old ECW alumni has been important for the new ECW brand is important for it’s legitimacy, it’s also important to sign existing stars, and new fresh blood. The original ECW alumni is getting older, new blood is needed badly. Angle helps. He’s also a good locker room leader, and will bring the professional WWE work ethic to the pot smoking beer chugging ECW  talent.

With that aside.. Seeing the WWE loosen the death grip on the “60 day suspension” and bring Orton back sooner than planned was smart. Orton, all thing being equal, is a great talent. The Angle / Orton Match will be entertaining. I suspect though they are going to let Angle do whatever he wants to Orton as further punishment for his transgressions.

I don’t know how ECW’ish this match will be. I’ll still view Angle as a WWE company man. Or, at least I will till I see this match.

Prediction: Angle over Orton, and it’ll be gruesome (needed, so that Angle gets over with the hardcore crowd)

Mick Foley & Edge vs. Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer

Wow. This match is all star power. Mick Foley and Edge come off an Excellent Wrestlemania Hardcore match. I don’t know if I’d call it the best of all time, but for a WWE hardcore match, it ranks amongst the best.  Terry Funk.. dear god this man is still on feet. Barely though. Watching Funk “storm” the ring with the other ECW alumni during the Cena/RVD contract signing was sad. Funk is clearly in a lot of pain. The knees are finished. Dreamer.. while personally not in the same league as Funk, Foley, stills brings some ECW legitimacy to the Brand, and to this match.

My biggest concern with this match is Edge. The last 12 months of his career have been pretty good for him. All that Lita/Edge/Hardy shit was interesting, and helped to propel him into the main event arena on a regular basis. He help a strap for a few week, and got a key match in WM with Foley. Good days to be sure. But even that WM match had me concerned. Edge was getting known for his own shtick.

I don’t want him to become known as the new Foley, willing to do anything for the company. That isn’t a good move for him. This ECW match.. can only have Edge looking worse and feeling worse than his WM appearance did. (lucky for him Foley shielded Edge in that WM fire bump)

Concerns aside, 3 out of four of these guys have A LOT of hardcore experience, and Edge, well he isn’t a newcomer to hardcore either. TLC matches, and his WM spot make him a veteran.

Prediction: I don’t have one.. except that this one will end up a bloody mess. Can’t go any other way.

Tazz vs. Jerry Lawler

Shit.. we knew they had to stink this show up somehow right?  I don’t care how much people like TAZZ or TAZ or Tazmaniac. He isn’t the same man he was in 1997.  Worse, he’s 100 pounds heavier, and been out of the ring for years now. (yes.. he appeared in the ring last year. Once. Whoopee)

Lawyer on the other hand, at least tries to stay busy and competitive. (Memphis)

The buildup for this match was short.. (like most of the card) but at least it has some legit heat. Lawyer genuinely felt all these years ECW was crap. (short of a few shining stars). Jerry was also in the dark about a lot of McMahon’s connections to ECW in the early days. So much of Jerry’s feeling are very legit.

It should be an interesting match, but there is no way it’s going to end one on one. I fully expect this one to end up a battle royal as the locker room comes out to support their guys.

Prediction: No Ending. Big Mess.

Super Crazy & Tajiri vs. The F.B.I.

Any time I can see Super Crazy, and Tajiri do their thing, with guys who know how to work with them and their styles, I know I’m in for a treat. Assuming FBI is Little Guido and Vito.. or even Tracy Smothers, this can be a really good and entertaining match.

I don’t have a lot to say about this.. except that I’m glad Tajiri is coming back to do this match. I hope he’s signed to an ongoing contract though. Tajiri, in his ECW element is an awesome thing.

EDIT: Looks like Big Vito.. er.. Tony Mamaluke is Guido’s partner.

Prediction: Crazy and Tajiri put on a clinic, and show us what we’ve missed from both of them all these years.

A different Devil for the 360 has shown his head. People who were in the scene 4 years ago will remember the Greek modchip weirdo and fanatic GRMODS.. the guy who “invented” plug and hack and 3d modding. This guy was a nut. Flexible PCB for his early xbox modchips. He gave more chips away than he sold. (ok.. that’s my opinion.. I’ll admit that.. but years ago.. when he actually tried to promote his crap chips, everyone I knew that actually had one.. had it given to them in the hopes they’ help him promote his shit. Didn’t work out that way as most failed or were DOA)

Anyways.. everyone I know that had one of his products, had it given to them. To this day, I’m not sure I actually “met” anyone who actually bought one of his 3d flexible chips. His stuff, was little more than a PCB and an SST chip packaged together offering little functionality over what you could do yourself over the original and classic cheapmod for 6$

Well he’s back.

Now he’s selling the Dual Mod for the DVD drive Firmware. I can’t say much bad about this so far. Looks good. I worry about how long the wires are. Otherwise it looks like it could be a good modchip.

I just hope this nutcase keeps his mouth shut and just makes his chips. People might actually buy this one this time.

Well.. many of us predicted that when 666 came to pass, we wouldn’t see any Devil 360 Modchip. They did however bless us with a news post, which, we posted about again for some reason on XS news page..

“We understand, certainly after the ICE modchip story, that people will not easily believe this so we will send prototypes to some scene sites as soon as they are ready, so they can confirm it’s real.”

We will continue to be skeptical. Considering the time between that post, and the original post on XS, even a mockup would have been appreciated. I do have some news though, Xantium had been contacted, and is in line to receive a sample.

Hopefully, Devil will show us the goods soon.

We all want the modchip era for the 360 to begin. Hopefully.. this is the beginning. It’s pretty much up to these guys to prove the critics wrong.

The Long wait is over, and we finally get official NON-leaked versions of the MC360 Skinned XBMC.

While not perfect, it’s definitely the best launch of a skin we’ve seen. It’s a very good reproduction of the 360 bladed dashboard/interface. Can’t wait to see this thing as it gets further polished and fixed.

For some, it will be hard to leave the trusted and true Project Mayhem skin in XBMC. For those, you don’t have to choose as it’s still included and supported by XBMC.

One thing I did not like about this skin, was the lack of full support for the original XBOX remote. Almost 5 million of us have that remote, and it’s not fully support (yet) in this skin.

Can’t wait to see where this goes..
