hsdemonz 27 Jan 2006 | : unrelentless meaningless drivel
It’s not hard to spot a bullshitter in our forums. Sometimes they are creative.. sometimes sneaky. Other times, they are just trying to get attention, ot trying to see how long they can string people along.
Case in point, Areohbe.
He start a thread.. kind of of W.I.P type of thread.. but it’s a discussion thread to lead up to his project. (which he says he’ll start January 28th) Ok.. so it’s not something we like to see in the case mod forum. But.. let’s give him some slack.
He wants to do a 360 to PC case migration mod. Nice.. not many done yet. (we’ve all scene this done on the original console, so of course.. it will all get rehashed on the 360..)
Anyway.. he intends to use this case. Nice. Not terribly big though.
12 hours after his first post, he seems to be struggling. OMG.. no one has replied to his thread. He’s fishing for info about wiring up the headphone jack.
After getting off on some replies which basically encourage him to proceed with the project, he photo shops some of that online sites photo’s to gauge interest in a color scheme. Why I don’t know.. it’s his case. You would think he’d pick a color himself of his choosing. Playing it up for the audience I guess.. he says he likes the black and the blue.. but he wastes time showing off his Photoshop skills and giving US a color choice?!?!
We then learn he’s “purchased” the PC case.. a black one.. and that he’ll start it well before the 28th. He received it on the 25th. It “starts”.
I then noticed.. that his Gamer tag is empty of anything but his name. I find that odd personally.. that someone who claims to have a 360, and internet access, doesn’t have anything there. His explanation holds enough water to be plausible.
Now the excuses come flying in.. “Right now it is really jank because nothing fit as planned, the dvd rom is too small so there is plenty of hotglue holding it in” and “MoBo is only secured by 3 posts (which are attached to the removable tray) and 2 of those three were cut off and hotglued on in the right location”
Now he’s in a pickle. He’s been hyping this project. Told us he’s got an Xbox360.. told us he’s got the PC case in question.. and now just hours after being put in the spot about his box not being on live.. he’s making excuses and back peddling.
3 days before this project was even supposed to start, he finally “backs out” of the project. Go figure.
Here is the kicker.. he says he lost 3 original xbox’s trying this exact same thing. If he “did” you’d figure he’d have learned stuff like measuring and test fits, maybe try actually planning.. etc. Maybe try not rushing.
I then put him on the spot again. Anyone doing a project in the case mod forum is expected to show of the project, and usually the progress of it. So, I expect to see what he’s done so far. After all, even his mistakes, and teach others.. and help prevent others from duplicating his “mistakes”
Then the sharks come out.. wanting blood. They smell a bullshitter.. much as I do.
His response.. “If you guys were in my situation…I was at the point where I had to cut cords to fit some stuff in there…I didn’t want to cut both A/V and power cord, an then find out next week that things aren’t right and be out a 360. Dont flame me for wanting to protect my investment”
If you want to protect your investment.. you buy an extra warranty and you don’t mod the box. Simple.
Beyond that.. you plan what you are doing. He knows he’s on the hot plate now.. and asks for another chance. He still hasn’t shown us any photos showing he has a 360 or a PC case of that make he said he bought. Fishy.
He admits he’s been a flamer before, having taken others to task for this same type of shit. Funny.. he doesn’t seem to have learned anything.
I gave him 24hrs to show he’s not a liar who is full of shit. I got a really low tolerance for that crap. 24hrs came and went.. and still nothing.. I’ll start checking his account and ip and seeing if he’s made a new account. Haven’t closed the old one yet cause I’d like to give him the chance to say the following..
“I’m a liar and a scammer. I just wanted your attention. I probably don’t have a 360 or a PC case I showed.”
Something to that effect, will save his account. Or the photos.
Take a photo.. not Photoshop, and show us the 360 and the PC case in the same image. Simple stuff.
I don’t see why he hasn’t posted the photos. After all.. if he’d have “done” the project, he’d have posted the usually group of see.. look how cool this is pictorial. But.. since he “failed” and “glued the shit out of it..” he can’t seem to get a camera?
Bullshit.
I’m not being hard on him. I’ve done this dozens of times. Bullshitters like him get away with a lot on the forums. We can’t read everything.. but he was lucky enough to have caught my attention. I was very interested in this mod myself. I did an Xbox to PC migration back in the day so I know it isn’t the easiest of undertakings.
Course… I didn’t bullshit people for 2 weeks. I didn’t do a lot of fishing and grandstanding before I had something to show for it.
EDIT: He came forward with some pics. Dark as all hell.. but it’s enough to get me off his back. For now, I retract much of what I said above, as people rarely ever back up their mouth. Aroehbe did. My apologies to him. I am glad he came forward and got those pics up. Now.. to find out what’s actually in them.
That’s it for now..
HSDEMONZ,
Born to be Blue.

Most innovative use of a window design I’ve seen yet. Puts to shame all those square and other odd shaped windows. I dig everything but the RED on the Hard Drive. If this guy was local to me here in Toronto he’d be painting my Xbox right now.
EDIT – Just noticed he had the airbrush done for him. I still give him props for planning it all out though. Nice work.

I’m not ever putting that lame duck back into any 360 I own. I still have feeling of being violated from that whole process. Almost 2 hours of wasted time to set up a “360 game” only to have a game full of sub par graphics, no voice, and non-linear play.
Non-linear play can be awesome.. but it really help to throw in a line or two. You know.. to give some direction. Some purpose. I’m sure if you mindlessly run around enough there is some of that hidden in there. In the meantime though, we get to run past people who are mindlessly running away, and god forbid we catch them, they don’t want to talk. If they do, we get the pleasure of a retarded onscreen keyboard. (least with 360 we can plug in any usb keyboard to help us there..)
Don’t mind me.. I’m still bitching. I don’t think I have a single friend who has tried it on the 360 and didn’t feel violated in some way..

Fans of Marble Madness for the NES and other system are going to like this LIVE ARCADE game that was unveiled the same night as that Full Auto Demo.
I’ve been playing the Single Player mode for awhile, and it definitely grows on you. And it’s definitely not a clone of Marble Madness, and this game quickly becomes more challenging. I do have some recommendation though..
Sit up, do not play this game lying down on a couch on your side. I’m not sure why, but I got weird dizzy spells when doing that playing this game on the projector.
Graphics, the ball looks awesome, but the 3d world at times is incredible flat. Once in a while the textures will pop, like when you are on the Ice parts.
For 800 points.. it’s not a bad game..
Now I just got to get someone to try the multiplayer with me..

Man.. I was really stoked when I heard we had a new demo to download from the marketplace. 646 mb of new stuff to play.
(can’t wait for Microsoft to give us the new dashboard upgrade.. as sitting and waiting during a download and doing nothing sucks.) Anyway. With the download done, I’m all geared up to play, with hope of at least an online level or something. Well, no such luck, we’re treat to one of 2 cars with big guns.
Didn’t matter which one you picked, you start in a pack of 4 cars, and you get the privilege of racing the same track over and over. 2 or 3 laps per race if memory serves me at all today.
Ok.. so what do we get for our time?
A graphically unimpressive Game. 2 cars that drive and handle like they are on rails. They also appear to be as long as boats. Frame rate seems slow. Tried it on both standard and HD.
It is a demo.. so I’ll cut them some slack. But, with the game shipping next month, I hope what they allowed us to demo wasn’t anything near their gold version. I’m not sure why, but when I saw previews of this game before.. I kind of thought it was like Twisted Metal. Now I wish it was like Twisted Metal. Let’s Hope the retail is better.
